Toe By Toe Syllable Division Answers

Here, we will explain the use of Toe By Toe Syllable Division Answer Sheets.

One of the reasons that some struggle to read English fluently or well, with correct pronunciation, is because of the many discrepancies between the written word and the spoken word.

There are letters which, within a word, may be silent or pronounced; there are letters and letter combinations that can be pronounced in different ways; there are only five vowels - a, e, i, o, u - but nineteen different ways to pronounce them. And when you join vowels and consonants together to form a word - watch out! It’s almost pure anarchy as to what the correct pronunciation and spelling of the word may be.

Is it any wonder some folk have problems decoding text?

To help students make greater sense of all this conflicting data, the Toe By Toe manual has a number of ‘Syllable Division’ exercises. The first of these is found on page 63 of the manual. On page 62 there is a full explanation of the why and how to teach the Syllable Division exercises. These are ‘must do’ exercises that students and coaches MUST complete.

“Just wanted to tell you, at age 9 my daughter Kat couldn’t read due to dyslexia and hated lessons. She then spent 18 months completing Toe By Toe. It opened up a new world for her. She is now 17 1/2 years old and sitting her ‘A’ Levels (including English Literature) and has just received her 2nd university offer.”
